I understand we all are finding it hard to balance our budgets and live without the
constant pressure of debt hanging over our heads. And for many people these aren’t
debts for luxuries – they include rates bills arriving in the mail or driving up your rent.

It is your council’s responsibility to you to get this right – not to be constantly putting
up rates. It’s time your council took this responsibility to you seriously enough.
I want a transparent council that listens and engages with our community through
rate payers, residents, business, organisations and schools to develop strong plans for
long term benefits to our whole community without pushing up costs to ratepayers.
Residents of Glenorchy, young and old, businesses and employees, deserve a better
deal than they have been getting.
